St George’s Chapel, Woolwich, Greenwich, London, SE18
This church was heavily bombed in WW2 but is still used today by the Royal Artillery Regiment for open air services. Thanks to £400K raised, it is soon to be restored, but is impressive even without the roof. Culture Minister Ed Vaizey said it had “magnificent mosaics” and who are we to argue. It’s a short walk from Woolwich Arsenal Rail Station.
